Falcons – Black Bears Preview

After a rain out on Friday, tonight marks the lone meeting of the season between the Falcons and the Cowlitz Black Bears.

Both teams have identical 3-3 records and are coming off a road loss yesterday.

The Falcons returned home this morning after losing two of three in Walla Walla. Their lone win was in game one of the series as Josh Nuernberg recorded the 8-5 victory.

The Bears are also coming to Kelowna losing two of three, including a 3-0 loss in Victoria last night. Their lone win over the Harbourcats was on Wednesday collecting an 11-4 win.

Hitting has started slow for the Falcons, hitting at a .230 clip. The Bears haven’t started much faster with a .235 average.

The Falcons have scored eight more runs than the Bears and have tallied three homeruns while the Bears are still looking for their first.

Individually Scotland Church leads the Falcons with a .455 average after 22 at bats with 10 hits, a double and four RBIs. He has reached base in all six games this season.

The Bears have been led by Daniel Orr. In 17 at bats he has a .471 average with eight hits, a double and four RBIs.

On the mound the Falcons are in the middle of the pack with a 4.33 ERA and have the second most strikeouts, fanning 55 hitters.

The Bears have had a better staff so far this season with a 3.46 ERA with 43 strikeouts. They have given up three homeruns and 50 hits this season.

Sat Game 2 – RHP Alex Emerson (0-0) vs. RHP Kohl Hostert (0-0)
Sun – RHP Jeremy Newton (1-0) vs. LHP Zebastain Valenzuela (0-0)

On Saturday fans can pay one admission and watch both games.
