Kelowna Falcons

Newton Solid In Loss

For the second straight night the Falcons received a terrific game from their starting pitcher, but lost.

Jeremy Newton threw seven solid innings in Bellingham on Sunday afternoon, allowed two runs on five hits as the Falcons fell 2-1 to the Bells in the series finale.  He struck out two and didn’t issue a walk.

He made two mistakes on Sunday, giving up a lead-off homer in the second to Danny Miller and give up a lead-off double in the sixth, which led to the game winning run.

The Falcons scored their lone run in the eighth as Brandon Grimsley knocked in Tyler Brown for his fourth RBI of the season.  Offensively the Falcons were outhit 6-5 as Grimsley had two of the hits.

The losing streak now climbs to six after getting swept in back to back series.  The Falcons (6-15) will now travel to Bend for a date with the Elks (12-10) winners of six in a row, beginning on Monday.
