No Luck For Falcons

Two Falcons pitchers combined to throw a two hitter on Saturday night and didn’t allow an earned run.  Despite that, the Falcons lose their fifth straight, 1-0 in Bellingham.

Sam Murphy made his first start of the summer and was terrific over 4.1 innings.  He allowed two hits and struck out three.  However in the second inning, a lead-off single by Eric Webber, who later scored on a two-out error by Jerod Smith resulted in the game winning run.

Brett Solano was lights out in a relief effort, as just one runner reached base in his 3.2 innings on an error.  He struck out two.

The Falcons offense sputtered collecting just three hits against three Bells pitchers.  Twice they moved a runner to third base, including in the ninth inning but couldn’t score.  Smith, Nick Minteer and Trey Kamachi each had singles.

It’s the second time this season the Falcons have been shutout.   Both happening in the last five games.

Sunday afternoon at 3:05pm the Falcons will look to salvage a game in this series and snap their five game slide with 1-1 righty Jeremy Newton on the bump.
