Extra Inning Blues

The Kitsap Bluejackets used a run in the 10th inning to squeak by the Falcons 6-5 at Elks Stadium on Tuesday.

The game saw five lead changes as the Falcons jumped in front as Kody Matthews scored in the second inning.

After the Jackets took the lead in the top of the third inning, scoring two runs off starter James Newton, the offense tallied three runs in the bottom of the inning.  Matthews knocked in a run and scored one as the Falcons led 4-2, but it was short lived.

The Jackets then scored three times over the next two innings, before the Falcons again tied the game in the sixth inning.  Brandon Grimsley scored on an error, one of five recorded by the Jackets.

The game stayed tied until the top of the 10th when reliever Wyatt Mills walked in the eventual winning run.

The Falcons had opportunities to score, but couldn’t seem to find that timely hit stranding 16 runners on base.
