Falcons Win Series

The Falcons concluded the unofficial first half of the season with a 9-6 series clinching win in Medford on Saturday night.

Both teams scored a run in the first, the Falcons getting an RBI ground out by Brandon Grimsley.

The Rogues then scored three unanswered runs off starter Jeremy Alderman in the second, fourth and fifth innings.

In the top of the sixth, the Falcons crawled back into the game with a pair of runs.  Will Fox and Ryan Degner collecting RBI singles to knock in Scotland Church and Erik Colombinin.

The Rogues answered with another single run in the bottom of the inning, before the Falcons exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh.

Trey Kamachi, Colombini, Fox and Degner each had two-out RBI hits in the inning.

The Falcons added one more in the ninth to seal the victory in another two-out rally.  Jerod Smith doubled, then scored on Josh Croft’s RBI single.

In total, the Falcons pounded 13 hits.  Degner and Fox each had two hits and drove in a pair and Jerod Smith had three hits, and the only extra base hit.

Wyatt Mills recorded the win throwing 3.1 innings in relief, allowing a run, a hit and struck out six.

The West Coast League will now break for the All-Star Game on Monday.  Scotland Church is the lone Falcons representative, while Tommy Lane will complete in the Homerun Derby.
