Kelowna Falcons

Fans Leave Happy

The Kelowna Falcons and the Kelowna Professional Firefighters along with Black Match Pyrotechnics did not disappoint on Wednesday night at Elks Stadium.

The Falcons trailed the Bellingham Bells early, but got clutch hitting from Hunter Villanueva to win 6-4 on Burn Fund Night, capped off with an incredible fireworks show.

An early 3-run homer put the Bells up in the first inning, but Kelowna battled back with a pair of runs that were scored on RBI’s from Vinny Esposito and Kirby McGuire.

The Bells added another in the 4th, but a 2-run homerun from Villanueva tied the score.

Villanueva would not be done, as he cashed in what turned out to be the winning run on a Sac Fly in the 7th inning.

Kendall Motes went 5 innings for the Falcons, allowing 4 runs. Michael Koval picked up the win working 3 scoreless innings, as Dalton Blackwell picked up the save.

With the win, the Falcons move to 10-5 on the seasons, good for at least a tie of top spot in the WCL East Standings at press time.

The Falcons embark on a 9-day road trip starting Friday Night in Yakima Valley against the Pippins, who the Falcons are battling for top spot in the division. The Season Series between the 2 teams will be decided this weekend.

Total funds raised for the Kelowna Professional Firefighters were not yet available, however Telus and Kelowna Toyota each donated $5000, and Costco $2500 during the 5th inning presentation.
