Kelowna Falcons

Free Home Opener

It will be the top two teams in the WCL East Division when the Kelowna Falcons play their home opener Tuesday night at Elks Stadium against the Yakima Valley Pippins.

Attendance is FREE that night thanks to Telus and Cisco, and there will be lots to see and do before and during the game that’s slated to start at 6:35.

White Rock, BC native Alex Webb from the University of British Columbia will have the ball for the Falcons, as the Right-Hander will look to build on a very good spring with the Thunderbirds, where he went 10-3 with a 2.15 ERA.

The Falcons dropped their season opener on the road to the Victoria Harbourcats, but bounced back nicely as the offense picked up 26 hits over the final 2 games to aid their pitchers.

Both Tyler Gillies and Elias Bedolla had strong starts on the mound, picking up their first wins of the season.

In the finale on Sunday afternoon, the Falcons hit 4 homeruns and had every starting player register a hit.

Vinny Esposito, Justin Flores, and Andre Jackson all had similar days, each finishing 3 for 5 with a homerun. Flores and Jackson’s were 2-run shots, while Esposito’s was a solo job.

Kelowna will face a formidable foe in the Pippins from Tuesday – Thursday, as they put up 32 runs in 3 games against Klamath Falls this weekend, while surrendering only 6.

Plan to arrive at the ballpark between 5:30 and 6 pm to get the best seats on Tuesday night, and enjoy the action at sunny Elks Stadium and welcome back your Kelowna Falcons.
