Pippin Payback

Payback will be the theme this weekend with a three game series in Yakima against the Pippins beginning on Friday night.

Ten days ago the Pippins came into Elks Stadium and blasted out 10 hits in an 11-2 victory in front of the home opener crowd.  Defensively the Falcons were not sharp, committing seven errors, setting a team record in a home opener game. Those errors led to nine unearned runs.  Alex Webb suffered the loss, while Ben Gamba collected three hits and an RBI.

The Pippins stole two of the three games at Elks, outscoring the Falcons 20-9 and outhitting them 28-26.  The lone victory in the series was the finale when the Falcons won 6-5, Joel Lamont recorded the win.  The victory opened a four game winning streak.

This weekend the Falcons defensive simply needs to be better.  In the series at Elks the defence didn’t help the pitching staff, committing 15 errors which led to 12 unearned runs.

Gamba was the brightest piece of the line-up collecting six hits and three RBIs.  Andre Jackson recorded four hits, including a triple and scored three runs.

The projected starters this weekend in Yakima (8-4) are; Curtis Taylor (1-0), Nat Hamby (0-0) and Brady Miller (0-0).  Fans can tune into the games with Kyle Anderson HERE

The Falcons (6-3) have only played three games in Yakima and were swept last year.

Follow this weekend in Yakima, the Falcons return home to Elks on Monday night to open a series with the defending West Coast League champion Bellingham Bells.  Wednesday’s series finale will feature the annual Fire Fighters game, will all ticket sales being donated to the Fire Burn Fund charity.  All three games against the Bells are scheduled for 6:35pm.
