Kelowna Falcons

5 Straight Series

What a difference 24 hours makes. The Kelowna Falcons went from 3 base hits to 12, and 1 run to 11 runs as they knocked off the Kitsap BlueJackets 11-2 Wednesday at Gene Lobe Field.

The Falcons scored in 6 of the 9 innings, including the 1st, when Justin Flores picked up his 1st of 3 RBI’s in the contest.

The BlueJackets responded with one in the bottom half against starter Joel Lamont, but he settled down, working 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 7.

Kelowna added a pair of runs in the 2nd on RBI’s from Andre Jackson and JJ Muno, before scoring 2 more in the 4th.

Flores had a 2-RBI single with 2 outs in the inning, after Jackson and Muno executed a double-steal.

The 5th inning was a strange one. Kelowna scored 4 runs in the frame on only 1 hit. They drew 3 walks, were hit by a pitch, and took advantage of 3 balks, an error, and a wild pitch to open up a 9-1 lead.

They would tack on runs in the 6th and 7th, as Josh Egan and Dalton Blackwell got into the RBI act.

Wade Gulden went 2-4 and Grant Meylan had a pair of hits off the bench as well.

Kitsap scored their 2nd run in the 8th off Matt Kirk, but that;s as close as it would come.

With the win, the Falcons move back into 1st place in the West Coast League East Division, a dance with Yakima Valley that could become even more common as the season progresses. The Falcons will not face the Pippins again, so no direct games affect the standings between those two teams.

Kelowna heads to Longview, Washington tomorrow to open up a 3-game set with the Cowlitz Black Bears. First pitch is 6:35 Thursday. Catch the action with Kyle Anderson at www.kelownafalcons.com
