Kelowna Falcons

Bells Hot Late

The Bellingham Bells scored 4 runs in the 8th inning to build on a 2-1 lead as they knocked off the Kelowna Falcons 6-1 Friday night at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham.

The Bells got on the board in the 2nd inning off of back to back hits, and scored again in the 3rd when a throw from Catcher Scout Villanueva flew into left that allowed Aaron Stroosma to score.

Stroosma, who had stolen 2nd on the previous pitch, got credit with the steal of 3rd which set a West Coast League record of 30 stolen stolen bases in a single-season.

The Falcons responded with 2 outs in the 4th when Vinny Esposito hit his 3rd of the year to make it 2-1.

Joel Lamont was strong on the mound, throwing 7.1 Innings, allowing just 4 hits and 2 runs while striking out 8. He was removed after a 1-out single in the 8th inning.

Bellingham got to relieve Dalton Blackwell, scoring 4 times on 3 hits and 2 walks.

The Falcons went down 1,2,3 in the 9th.

Kelowna remains on top of the WCL East by 4.5 games, however that lead shrunk by 1 tonight when Yakima won in Cowlitz. The Falcons battle the Bells tomorrow night at 7:05 with Brady Miller on the mound, and Sunday at 3:05 when Michael Koval takes the hill.
