Falcons End Skid

The Kelowna Falcons are back in the win column with a 9-6 win over the Wenatchee AppleSox Friday at Elks Stadium in Kelowna.

The Falcons jumped on the board in the 1st inning as Hunter Villanueva hit his 5th homerun over the wall in centerfield.

The lead would widen to 5-0 in the 3rd, as Joey Crunkilton drove in a pair with an RBI single, and Josh Egan had an RBI double.

Villanueva would make it 6-0 in the 4th inning when he cashed in Grant Meylan who had a 1-out single.

The AppleSox would battle back over the next two frames, tying the ball game up off a pitching combination of Michael Koval, Blake Peters, and Alex Webb.

Koval would work 4.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits.

The Falcons took the lead for good in the 6th when Villanueva picked up his 3rd hit and 3rd RBI of the night, finishing 3-3. Kelowna added a pair in the 7th as well, as Lane Lacrone and Meylan each tacked on an RBI.

Webb worked the final 3.2 innings, giving up 5 hits while striking out 3. He allowed only 1 run.

The Falcons will look for a series win on Saturday night at 6:35 in the final game before the All-Star Break. Kelowna will send 5 players to Wenatchee for the game on Monday night.
