Wagner First MLB Win

Former Falcon Tyler Wagner pitched five shutout innings and earned his first career MLB win Thursday against the San Francisco Giants.

Entering in relief of an erratic Shelby Miller in the third inning, Wagner gave up just two hits over his five frames for the Arizona Diamondbacks. For now, Wagner figures to be a middle innings reliever, but if he continues to perform well in long appearances, he could be considered for spot starts if the need ever presented itself.

Earlier this month another Falcons’ alumni got his MLB ‘first.’  Brett Nicholas, now a member of the Texas Rangers made his MLB debut and smashed a double to right centerfield in Seattle.  Like he did so many times in 2008 as a member of the Falcons.

Congratulations to both former Falcons.
