Bears Win Game One

The six-game road trip started off on the wrong foot as the Cowlitz Black Bears came back to double up the Falcons 4-2 on Saturday night.

Geoff McCaulley drove in a pair of runs in the top of the second for the Falcons, before the Bears’ pitching staff settled into a grove.

Falcons’ starter Colby Nealy (pictured) was good, but the Bears offence chipped away at the lead scoring a run in the third, two in the fifth and some insurance in the home half of the eighth.  Nealy suffers the loss after throwing 7.2 innings, giving up 10 hits and striking out just one.

Offensively Lane Lacrone has a two-hit night, as the Falcons did manage nine hits, but left nine on base.

Game two of the three game series goes Sunday night in Cowlitz as Jake Simmons is the probable starter.
