Falcons Drop Game Two to Bells

It was a close game two between the Kelowna Falcons and the Bellingham Bells, but the Falcons ultimately fell by a score of 4-1. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 11-12 in the second half of the season and are now three games back of first.

The birds playoff hopes took a serious hit with the loss, and the remaining four games will now be played as a point of pride.

Max Carter, the two-way player out of Cal State Bakersfield, started on the mound for the Falcons, going 7.1 innings and giving up four hits and three runs, with all three being earned. He also walked three and struck put four along the way.

Carter took the loss, which puts his record for the summer at 3-1. The Falcons fell behind early, but only by a single run. It would remain that way until Joey Crunkilton, the designated hitter on the night, came up to bat and corked a homer over the right field fence.

In the very next inning, with the score tied 1-1, a wild pitch by Carter was mishandled by Jake Druce, which led to a Bells run scoring. The Bells would add another pair of runs to put the game out of reach. Sam Hellinger came in to close out the ballgame and was lights out.

The Falcons couldn’t produce any more offense. They had four total hits on the night and only scored the single run.

The Falcons will meet the Bells one more time before heading home to Elks Stadium to welcome the Walla Walla Sweets for a season ending three game series. The first two games go at 6:35 pm, with the regular season finale at 6:05 pm on the Sunday.
