Staff Bulks Up

The coaching staff continues to bulk up on pitching signing two more right handers, each coming out of the bullpen for their respective schools.

Freshman Kade Mechals (left) is getting an opportunity to throw a lot of innings at Western Oregon University this spring season.  Currently the righty is 2-1 with a 1.28 ERA and three saves in 14.1 innings of work.

As a matter of fact the Wolves are 6-2 when he appears in a game.

Junior righthander James Brooks (right) of the Concordia Cavaliers in Portland is a transfer from Tacoma Community College this season.  In his final season at Tacoma his ERA was 0.00.

This spring season, his first at a Division II school, Brooks has collected three saves and 35 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of work.

In high school, Brooks not only threw, but played at third base and behind the plate.  He was a three-year letter winner and was the team captain in his senior season.  During his junior year, he won a state championship and was named the tournament MVP.

He has collegiate baseball in his blood as his Dad Chris played at Portland State.

Both pitchers will report to the Falcons this summer.  Opening Day is set for June 2nd at Elks Stadium when the Falcons welcome the Port Angeles Lefties. Season tickets are on sale now by calling the Falcons headquarters at 250.763.4100.
