Falcons Drop Finale

For the second straight night the Falcons gave up three runs in the top of the first inning and couldn’t overcome the deficit falling 5-2 in the series finale with the Port Angeles Lefties.

After starter Anthony Garcia gave up a pair of homeruns in the first inning he settled down keeping the game within reach.  He went on to throw eight innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and struck out three in his first set back of the summer.

On the offensive side the Falcons scattered five hits and scored single runs in the third and ninth innings. Kelowna native Davis Todosichuk smacked a triple in the home half of the third and scored on a wild pitch.  Then in the ninth inning he would hit into a fielder’s choice to score Taylor Wright who was the only Falcon with a multi-hit game.

Lefties’ starting pitcher Nick Bonniksen tossed 5.1 innings picking up his first win of the summer.   He gave up four of the Falcons five hits and struck out four.   Luke Freely made his second appearance of the season to close things out fanning four to secure the series win.
