Kelowna Falcons

A Sweet Victory

The Kelowna Falcons won their second consecutive game by defeating the Walla Walla Sweets by a score of 6-4. Kelowna got some great offensive contributions from JT Williams, Trent Tinglestad, Taylor Wright, Alex McGarry and Cade Peters.

The Falcons scored one run in the third inning before opening up the game in the fourth with a four-spot. Kelowna would then add a crucial single run in the eighth inning.

Taylor Wright had two hits in the game and has now tied a Falcons single season record with 62. He will look to break the record sometime in the next five regular season games.

Brayden price started off the game and was pulled after two innings. He walked six through that time. Bryan Donohue, the Falcons skipper, talked about the Price start. He said, “He just didn’t have any feel for his pitches. He just had trouble locating his throws. It sucks when that happens because his last couple of outings had been solid. He was able to get us some big outs, despite his lack of command.”

Donohue continued on with comments about the offense. He said, “With this offense, you give us a chance to sniff some blood and we’ll find a way to score. We got the timely hits from guys like Wright and McGarry which really helped. We also had some big stolen bases which helped put us in position to score. Getting that sixth run in the eighth was a huge bonus.”

Kelowna also debuted their new pitcher. Trey Evans, the righty, went 1.2 innings and gave up two hits and one earned run. He also walked and struck one out apiece. Donohue said, “Good job by our new guy Evans for really competing. He just attacked hitters and I was really proud to see him play like that.”

Ryan Smith went five innings and received the win, while Anthony Garcia recorded the save.

Falcons and Sweets will be back in action Tuesday night at 6:35 pm.
