Menegat Named POW

The West Coast League Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league president Brian Sloan, is Sam Menegat of the Kelowna Falcons for the week of July 10-16.

Menegat, a sophomore-to-be southpaw from Eugene, Oregon, twirled two masterpieces this past week, tossing eight innings at Corvallis to earn the 4-1 win on July 10 and seven shutout innings versus Wenatchee in a no-decision on July 16. In total, Menegat pitched 15 innings, allowed one run and struck out 18. He walked none and struck out eight versus the AppleSox and walked three and struck out 10 vs. the Knights at Goss Stadium.

He is 2-0 with a 2.30 ERA and one save over nine appearances and three starts for the Falcons this season.

The 2017 All-Star Game goes Tuesday night in Yakima highlighting three Falcons.  Shortstop Taylor Wright who finished second in the Homerun Derby, second baseman Matt Bottcher and right hander Cal Hehnke will all play in the game.  The Falcons are back in action on Saturday at Elks Stadium with the Bend Elks in town.  Reserve your tickets HERE.
