Kelowna Falcons

Gurnik & Co.

Manager Bryan Donohue and General Manager Mark Nonis have signed three players from Cal Poly to join the club in Kelowna this summer.

Two of the players will be well known to Falcons fans as Connor Gurnik and Andrew Alvarez are back.

Last season Gurnik had just graduated high school in Illinois before joining the Falcons.  His summer was then cut short due to an injury which he now has fully recovered from.  In just 21 games last season he hit .264 with 19 hits, three doubles, a triple and nine RBIs.

He is expected to play a big part for Cal Poly this spring as an incoming freshman.

Lefthander Alvarez was also a recent high school graduate before coming to the Falcons.  He has plenty of upside and should log a number of innings this spring at Cal Poly.  Last summer with the Falcons he worked primarily out of the pen and finished 1-0 with 20 strikeouts in 23.2 innings of work.

They will also bring right hander Zane Lindeman from Cal Poly with them.  The big 6’4 incoming righty was named the 2017 Pasadena Sports Now Baseball Pitcher of the Year after finishing 8-4 with a 1.71 ERA.

All three players are expected to be in Kelowna on June 1st when the Bellingham Bells come to town.
