Buzzing Falcons

Manager Bryan Donohue is pleased to add four freshmen from the Sacramento State University Hornets as he continues to bolster the roster.

Lengthy lefty Dash Dunham who stands at 6’6 will remind Falcons’ fans of Augey Bill who was in Kelowna for the 2010 summer.    Bill stood high atop the Elks Stadium mound as a 6’8 southpaw.   In 4.2 innings so far this spring for the Hornets Dunham has seven strikeouts.

Right-hander Stone Churby will need to be a “rock” on the Falcons pitching staff this summer.  The 6’3, 188 pounder comes from a baseball hot bed in Brentwood California.  So far this spring he has fanned seven batters in 10 innings coming out of the bullpen.

Righty Travis Martizia is also a California native hailing from Lomita and graduating from Torrance high school.  In limited action this spring he has struck out five batters in 10 innings of work out of the bullpen.

Infielder Steven Moretto from Coquitlam has started his collegiate career very quickly with the Hornets.  In 21 games he’s batting .293 with four homers and 22 RBIs.  He’s also scored 13 times and has stolen three bases.

All four freshmen are scheduled to be in Kelowna on June 1st when the Falcons open the season against the Bellingham Bells at Elks Stadium.  Season tickets are available now, as are dates for the Corporate BBQs and Group Double Play.  To find out how to bring your group to the ballpark for just $10 a ticket which includes a hotdog, pop and bag of chips call the Falcons’ headquarters at 250-763-4100.
