Manager Bryan Donohue is excited to announce the signing of three players from the UBC Thunderbirds program including a pair of returners.  Lefthanded pitcher Niall Windeler and outfielder Lucas Soper will rejoin the Falcons while sophomore outfielder Austen Butler has also been added.

Last summer Windeler was the opening day starter and recorded a three hit gem at Elks Stadium.  In all he started six games and finished 4-1 fanning 20 batters.  Over the course of those six starts he threw 39.1 innings and collected an ERA of 2.74.

A lower body injury ended Soper’s summer very quickly last year.  He played in just two games and got three at bats collecting an RBI double.

This spring with the Thunderbirds he’s hitting .320 after 100 at bats and has 32 hits.  Of those base knocks, eight are doubles and he does have a homerun and 10 RBIs.

This spring has also been a very productive one for Butler.  He’s currently hitting .273 with 36 hits, nine doubles, four homeruns and 20 RBIs.  He’s also swiped six bases and has a slugging percentage of .432.

All three players should be in Kelowna by June 1st when the Falcons host the Bellingham Bells in the home opener.  Season tickets are available now, as are dates for the Corporate BBQs and the Group Double Play.  To find out how to bring your group to the ballpark for just $12 a ticket which includes a hotdog, pop and bag of chips call the Falcons’ headquarters at 250-763-4100.
