Falcons Drafted

The Major League Baseball draft took place last week and three former Falcons’ players heard their name selected.

In the 27th round outfielder Ian Dawkins was the first to be drafted as he was chosen by the Chicago White Sox. He played with the Falcons last summer and made a splash immediately hitting a walk-off homerun in his debut at Elks Stadium. He finished the season after just 16 games due to an injury. However while wearing the Falcons blue he hit .352 with 19 hits, a homerun and 15 RBIs.

Next up in the 34th round Vinny Esposito was taken by the Detroit Tigers. He was part of a Falcons team that set a franchise best 34 wins. He finished the 2015 summer hitting .248 with 28 hits, four doubles, three homeruns and 15 RBIs.

Catcher Brendt Citta was the final Falcon to be chosen in the 37th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 2016 he hit .295 in Kelowna with 26 hits, five doubles and 10 RBIs. He was also a solid defensive catcher during his time in the Okanagan.

The Falcons are currently in Cowlitz battling the Black Bears for the next two nights. They return on Tuesday to face the Victoria Harbourcats at Elks Stadium. Get your tickets HERE or pick them up at the front gate at 5:30pm. The first pitch is set for 6:35pm.
