Knights Hit Parade

The Kelowna Falcons dropped their fourth straight game as they fell to the Corvallis Knights by a 6-1 score on Saturday night at Elks Stadium.

Connor Knutson and Landen Bourassa combined for a strong effort from the rubber while Zak Taylor hit a two-run home run and added to the 14 hits on the night for Corvallis as the Falcons dropped their fourth game in a row.

The scoring started for Corvallis in the 2nd inning as the Knights picked up three hits in the frame and brought seven batters to the plate and a sacrifice fly from Trace Tammaro to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage.

The Falcons responded in the bottom of the 2nd as they tied the game up after a lead-off double off the bat off Austen Butler. Cody Crowder drove him in on a hard-hit ball off the glove of shortstop Beau Phillip and into left field that brought Butler home and got the game even at 1-1.

Corvallis was quick to answer as they continued to pile up the hits in the 3rd inning, collecting four hits and getting the lead back. Austin Feist chopped an RBI double to left field down the foul line before an RBI single from Cody Hawken extended the lead to 3-1.

Jared Akin started the game for Kelowna and worked his way out of a pair of jams in the 4th and 5th inning, getting around a two-on, one-out situation in the 4th before stranding the bases loaded in the 5th frame to keep the game at 3-1.

The Knights did crack through for their biggest inning of the game and that came in the 6th frame as Akin finished up his night with 5.1 IP but surrendered his fourth run on a passed ball that got through catcher James Brooks before Zak Taylor hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot over the wall in left field and gave the Knights a 6-1 lead in the game.

Corvallis starter Connor Knutson was excellent in the game, going 7 innings allowing just one run on five hits while striking out five batters and walking none. Reliever Landen Bourassa entered the game and pitched the final two innings of the night, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts to close out the victory for the Knights.

Akin took the loss in the game for Kelowna, his 4th of the season, while Knutson earned his 3rd victory of the season for Corvallis. The Falcons (23-20/9-8) will look to break out of their losing stretch as they host the Corvallis Knights (28-16/12-5) for the final time this season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM with tickets available for purchase at the Falcons website or at the door ahead of the start of the ballgame.
