After opening the final road trip of the year with a loss in Walla Walla (6-2) the Falcons have lost two straight in Bend including a 10-9 extra inning affair on Sunday.

The Falcons bullpen fell apart allowing eight runs in the final three innings to seal their fate. Summit Neil who just joined the pitching staff from Walla Walla Community College was solid throwing five innings, allowed an unearned run on five hits, while fanning five.

However the combination of Marcus Guarin and Jake Fischer, two usual positional players, couldn’t hold down the lead in their pitching debuts. The pair gave up eight runs; six of them earned off nine hits and walked five in the loss.

Offensively Brandon Hupe and Richi Sede each collected three hits and scored a pair of runs. Brayden Merritt smacked his first homer of the season which came in the third inning with one out and a full count.

Monday the club will try and salvage a victory in Bend before heading back to Walla Walla for the final two road games. The boys will be back in town for a three game home stand Friday, Saturday and Sunday when the Bellingham Bells come to Elks Stadium.
