New Voice?

The Kelowna Falcons are looking for a new play by play broadcaster for their upcoming 20th season in the West Coast League (WCL). The 16-team league is the premier wood bat league on the West Coast, is Major League Baseball certified and recognized by numerous college programs at the Division 1, 2 and 3 levels. The Falcons currently have four alumni at the Major League level including James Paxton (Red Sox), Connor Joe (Rockies), Phil Maton (Astros) and Ryan Tepera (Angels) along with countless players in the minor league systems working their way up.

This is a rare opportunity to provide the internet play by play in one of Canada’s hottest summer destinations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide the internet audio play by play of all 27 home games. Away games are also a possible option,
• Write postgame recaps for KelownaFalcons.com and local media,
• Provide website story content on “off days,”
• Assist in writing public address scripting,
• Create social media posts,
• Perform other duties requested by General Manager

Qualifications:

• A strong knowledge of the game of baseball and able to articulate what is happening on the field for our listeners,
• A commitment of all 27 games and any playoff games,
• Informed, interested and enthusiastic about the game of baseball across all levels,
• Ability to generate and write a recap of the game for KelownaFalcons.com,
• Previous on-air experience is an asset,
• A willingness to work within a team atmosphere and have a positive attitude

Compensation will be based upon experience and qualifications. However housing will be provided for the successful candidate if he/she is from out of the Kelowna area.
