Kelowna Falcons

Rise of the Spartans

An exciting four players from San Jose State University have joined the Kelowna Falcons roster for the 2022 season: a pair of right-handed pitchers, a catcher and an infielder.

Catcher Makana Olaso has played in 24 games for the Spartans this spring and is hitting .263 through 80 at bats with 21 hits, three homeruns and 17 RBIs. Behind the plate he has been solid calling games for his pitchers and has a .994 fielding percentage.

Tim Scarlett (pictured) is a menacing looking righty at 6’7 and 240 pounds in his freshman year. He’s appeared in three games this spring, each time coming out of the bullpen. He’s thrown six innings and has struck out three batters.

Casey Spencer is in his sophomore season this spring and has fanned 13 batters over the course of 18.2 innings. He’s made two starts but has primarily worked out of the bullpen making 10 appearances.

Freshman infielder Jeriah Lewis has seen limited action because of the veteran players in front of him. He was an All-League player in high school hitting .371 during his prep career and in 2020 was named his school’s Athlete of the Year.

The Falcons are preparing for their home opener on June 3rd presented by Stutters with free admission.

With players arriving at the end of the month the Falcons still have a few host family opportunities as well. Billets receive a grocery allowance, season tickets and an incredible experience helping shape a young student athlete on his path to the Major Leagues.
