Kelowna Falcons

Falcons Flatten Cats

History was made Sunday at Elks Stadium as the Falcons blasted the Victoria Harbourcats 9-2 and won the series.

Starting pitcher Hiroyuki Yamada was brilliant as the team’s first ever Japanese born player. After giving up a lead-off homer Yamada settled in picking up his first win of the season throwing five innings, allowing the one run on four hits and struck-out three.

Offensively the Falcons exploded for 11 hits and scored runs in each of the first four innings. Jake Steels, CJ Richmond, Troy Baunsgard and Jeriah Lewis each had multi-hit games. Lewis swiped three bases and Kelowna’s Jaden Parsons had the lone extra base hit of the ball game with a double.

The Falcons will welcome a few more players to town on Monday as the roster continues to fill out. The club will then welcome the Ridgefield Raptors to town on Tuesday to open a three-game series.
