Falcons Vs. Raptors

Tonight, the Kelowna Falcons welcome the Ridgefield Raptors to Elks Stadium to open a three-game series.

The Falcons (2-1) are coming off a series win over the Victoria Harbourcats this past weekend outscoring them 15-10. Jake Steels and Troy Baunsgard each had four hits to lead the way and CJ Richmond crushed an opposite field homerun. As a team they hit .238 collecting 22 hits. On the mound nine pitchers combined for a 1.96 ERA striking out 28 batters in 23 innings.

Manager Doug Noce will hand the ball to starter Jasper Nelson, a 6’3 righty from Las Vegas, Nevada. As a junior this past spring he was 4-0 with a 3.18 ERA and collected 59 strikeouts in 45.1 innings at Spokane Community College. Tonight will be his Falcons debut.

The Raptors (2-1) meanwhile are also coming off a home series win beating the Walla Walla Sweets. The final game of the series the Raptors scored 23 runs on 20 hits which included four homeruns and a 13-run fourth inning. As a team they hit .373, belting seven homers in the series. On the bump they used 11 pitchers, had a combined 5.63 ERA and struck out 18.
