Kelowna Falcons

Offensive Explosion

The Kelowna Falcons had their best offensive output of the season on Monday night, blasting the Nanaimo NightOwls 11-2.

It was a low scoring game through the first five innings with the Falcons holding a 2-1 lead as starter Jasper Nelson showed great stuff, striking out 10 batters in his five innings of work. The offence was catapulted in the sixth inning after scoring a run to make it 3-1 off a wild pitch. They added one more in the seventh, then exploded for seven runs in their final two at-bats highlighted by a Luke Solis grand slam off the top of the wall in his Falcons debut.

In all the visitors recorded 11 hits and saw multi-hit games from Jake Steels, Troy McCain and Jaden Sheppard. Both Jeter Ybarra and Jaden Parsons each knocked in a pair of runs.

On the mound the Falcons were equally impressive led by Nelson who claimed his first victory of the summer. Jacob Greenan threw three innings and struck out three while Griffin Palfrey made his debut in the ninth and struck out the side.

On Tuesday the Falcons (4-5) will try and keep things rolling in game two of the series against the NightOwls (5-7). Sean Fekete (0-1) is expected to start looking for his first win of the season. The first pitch is set for 6:35pm in Nanaimo.
