Falcons Feed Tuesday

Tuesday night the Kelowna Falcons had their biggest offensive output of the season beating up on the Port Angeles Lefties in Washington 19-2 on the strength of three homeruns and 18 hits.

The Falcons started early getting a solo homerun off the bat of Luke Solis (pictured) in the top of the first inning for his second of the season. The Lefties would actually tie it in the bottom of the inning, before the Falcons offence went back to work.

In the top of second the visitors put three more on the board thanks to a two-run single from Charlie Welch and an RBI base hit from Jake Steels. The knock from Welch turned out to be the game winning hit.

In the fourth inning the Falcons put the game away sending 14 men to the plate and scoring nine runs. Welch and Makana Olaso each had a two-run single in the inning.

Shea Thomas had his best night in a Falcons uniform with two homeruns in back-to-back innings driving in four runs in total. Welch also had a four RBI night while Solis knocked in three.

Lost in the massive offensive support was the masterful game on the mound from starter Derek Beairsto who threw a complete game. He struck out nine on route to his second win of the summer and didn’t give up a run in his last seven innings of work, only walking one.

The Falcons will hope that the power surge continues Wednesday when they face the Lefties again in game two of the series. They will finally return to Elks Stadium on Friday to open a weekend set with the Walla Walla Sweets. Friday night is Country Night, Saturday will be Ladies Night with ladies receiving a game and drink ticket for only $10, then Sunday’s finale is Superhero Night. Reserve your tickets online HERE.
