Kelowna Falcons

Friday Night Loss

Friday night the Falcons fell 7-4 to the Walla Walla Sweets in game one of their three-game weekend series.

The Sweets jumped on Falcons’ starter Hiroyuki Yamada in the third inning striking four times thanks in large part to the walk. Yamada was chased after recording just six outs and was hit with the loss.

In the fourth inning the Sweets added to their lead with a run off Kieren Hall before the offence finally broke through in the top of the sixth. After Jake Steels walked, Luke Solis brought him home on the next pitch with a one-out double. Solis would then score a couple of pitches later thanks to another double, this one off the bat of pinch hitter Konnor Palmeira.

Unfortunately, that momentum was erased in the bottom of the inning when the Sweets scored twice off Hall and extended their lead to five once again.

In the top of the seventh the Falcons offence brought the game to within three, this time a two-run triple off the bat of Matt Baughn to scored Troy McCain and Shea Thomas.

That was all the scoring the Falcons could muster as they fall for the 12th time this season. They will battle the Sweets again on Saturday night with Jasper Nelson getting the start on the mound.

The Falcons return to Elks Stadium on Tuesday night to face the Wentachee Applesox on Bark at the Park Night. Fans are allowed to bring their dogs to the game to sit and enjoy. This is the only time dogs are allowed at Elks Stadium. Tickets for humans are available now online HERE. Dogs are free.
