Kelowna Falcons

Plenty ‘O Runs

Saturday night the Kelowna Falcons bats came alive with 12 hits and eight runs but it wasn’t enough falling 13-8 in Yakima to the Pippins.

The Falcons blasted out of the gate with a pair of runs in the first inning as both Damian Stone and Luke Solis scored. However the Pippins answered right back in the bottom half of the inning jumping on starter Nick Cleland and scored four times.

That lead did not last long. In the top of the second the Falcons scored three more times thanks to RBI hits from Kam Edwards and Jake Steels (pictured). Those runs gave the visitors another lead, however once again the Pippins answered and tied the game at five after scoring a run in the bottom of the second.

Then in the fourth the Falcons broke the tie and added two more runs on the scoreboard. Jeter Ybarra came up with a timely hit with two down to score Solis and Steels.

In the seventh with the scored tied at seven, Solis brought home Matt Baughn with an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Falcons the lead again. However the Pippins bats would not go away getting to Edwards who came out of the bullpen and gave up six runs in the final two innings on route to their victory.

Sunday evening the Falcons and Pippins will play in the series rubber match in a very important game for playoff positioning. The Falcons then return home to face the Kamloops NorthPaws in a massive rivalry game on Monday at 6:35pm to wrap up the long weekend. Pick up your tickets at the front gate.
