Shoot-Out At Elks

Saturday night was a high scoring affair that the Kelowna Falcons let slip through their fingers, falling 13-10 to the Walla Walla Sweets at Elks Stadium.

This game was really a tale of two halves.  The Falcons offence found their stride early holding a 10-4 lead after five innings and things seemed to be headed in the right direction.  However, the pitching staff couldn’t hold the six-run lead and the Sweets scored three in the sixth and started to turn the momentum.

In their final four at-bats the Sweets seemingly scored at will, collecting nine runs on route to the victory.

In all, the Falcons outhit the Sweets 15-12 led by Jake Steels who finished 4-5, with three RBIs, three runs scored and a double.  Jeter Ybarra (pictured) was also outstanding collecting a pair of hits and four RBIs while Luke Solis reached base three times and scored three runs.

The Falcons pitching staff will need a short memory as they look to rebound on Sunday in the seasonal series finale.  It’s also Superhero Night at the ballpark, come dressed in your favourite superhero shirt and costumes and there will be a special appearance by Batman to throw out the opening pitch.  The gates open at 5:00pm, with the first pitch set for 6:05pm.
