Hit Parade In Win

The Kelowna Falcons claimed their second straight win on Wednesday night with a 10-8 shootout over the Nanaimo NightOwls.

The teams combined for 18 runs and 29 hits as the Falcons move above .500 for the first time this season at 3-2.

Incredibly after the first three innings the teams went back and forth combining for 10 runs before the pitchers finally settled down in the fourth inning as neither team would score. That changed quickly however in the fifth inning when the NightOwls (3-2) scored three times, then added another in the top of the sixth and held an 8-6 lead, but they couldn’t hold it.

The home side came alive in the bottom of the seventh scoring three times, then added an insurance run in the eighth to win their third of the season.

Offensively Jonas Salk (pictured) had a massive game collecting four hits, two RBIs and scored twice. JP Smith was also solid with two hits, three RBIs and a walk while Eddie Fines, Mateo Lake and Jacob Devenny each had a multi-hit game.

The Falcons used five pitchers with Colton O’Toole picking up the win after an inning of work, fanning one batter. Griffin Palfrey pitched the final two innings and recorded a save, striking out two.

These two teams will battle again on Thursday in the series finale as the Falcons look for a sweep. Sam Hall, who was the opening day starter in Portland will get the start with his first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm. Tickets can be purchased online HERE or they can be purchased at the gate.
