Recap

The Kelowna Falcons won the series against the Bellingham Bells in walk-off fashion by a score of 15-14. It was a crazy game by both teams that saw a combined 29 runs cross home plate. There was also an absurd amount of hits as both teams sprayed the ball around for a grand total of 35 on the night.

Bryan Donohue, the Falcons skipper, gave his thoughts on the walk off win. He said, “We have very similar lineups. Everyone was going out there and competing. It’s funny how games like this can sometimes come together. I think the biggest thing for us is when the game calmed down. We were able to tag on a couple of big runs that ultimately put us in control.”

Falcons reliever Ian Turner was the story of the night in Donohue’s opinion. He said, “Turner extended himself longer than he had all summer. It’s too bad we couldn’t get the victory for him. We had a couple unlucky things happen late to prevent that. He was great for us.”

After the Bells tied the game in the top of the ninth, the top of the Falcons order got to work in the bottom half. Matt Scheffler got on base due to an error and Trent Tinglestad followed by wearing a pitch. Taylor Wright then came up and hit the walk-off RBI single to win the game.

Multiple Falcons had a ton of hits including Cole Mueller and Kade Hall, who each had four. Wright and Scheffler both had three and the former collected four RBI as well as his 10th home run of the season.

The Falcons will continue their homestand Monday night against the Walla Walla Sweets. First pitch goes at 6:35 pm.
