Recap

The Kelowna Falcons snapped their four-game losing skid with a decisive 6-5 victory in game two against the Bend Elks. Kelowna got a great performance out of newcomer Trent Tinglestad, who was instrumental in the victory.

Speaking of Tinglestad, the outfielder was making his second appearance as a Kelowna Falcon entering the game. He went 4-5 with two home runs and five RBI and helped propel the Falcons to victory. Bryan Donohue, the Falcons head coach, had nothing by praise for Tinglestad’s night.

He said, “The story of the game is obvious. Tinglestad had five RBI on a six run night. He came in last night and it was a situation where he knew he needed to get some momentum to get moving. He only needed a game to adjust and he punished the baseball tonight.”

Tinglestad not only tied the game with a three-run home run in the sixth but gave Kelowna the late lead with a two-out go-ahead RBI single in the eighth.

Falcons starting pitcher Jared Gray went seven innings and was rewarded with the win in his final appearance as a Falcon. Ryan Smith pitched the eighth and Shea Barry came on for the save in the ninth with the Falcons leading 6-5.

Donohue commented on Barry’s outing saying, “It was a tough night to pitch with the wind. The Elks sent some big boppers out as well. A save is a save and I love having that guy on the bump. He competes and that’s what we’re going to be looking for in the playoffs.”

Kelowna and Bend will play the rubber match of the series Monday night at 6:35 pm.
