vs

Recap

The Kelowna Falcons (18-17) lost game two to the Corvallis Knights (24-11) by a score of 8-4. Kelowna’s loss evens the series between the teams and sets up a pivotal rubber match between the two playoff-bound clubs.

Jake Simmons (0-1) was tagged with the loss. The righty was making his season debut for the Falcons and tossed 5.2 innings and allowed eight hits and eight runs, with five of those being earned. He also walked one and struck out one. Bryan Donohue, the Falcons skipper, weighed in on the start. He said, “I really thought that Simmons pitched well enough for us to win. However, our defense had some tough moments against a potent Knights attack.”

The Knights really opened the scoring in the sixth inning, when they tagged the Falcons for three runs. Donohue said, “It’s a reminder for us to stay in the game with every pitch. They pitched it well tonight but we had some really competitive at bats. I think the biggest learning point is that we need to not be giving a good hitting team extra chances.”

Donohue also singled out Cole Mueller and Josh Glenn for some praise. Mueller has been swing a hot bat and hit his second home run of the season over the left field fence. Glenn was able to rocket a double to the gap which brought home a pair of Falcons.

Kelowna goes for the series win Wednesday night at 6:40. Kade Mechals (3-0) will make the start and will look to keep his perfect record intact.
