Recap

The Kelowna Falcons fell in game number two by a score of 12-3 against the Victoria HarbourCats. The series is now even between the two teams with Kelowna taking game one back on Tuesday night.

Brayden Price, the big righty, made his first start of the summer. He went five strong innings and gave up six hits and allowed two earned runs. He walked three and struck out three along the way. He was tagged with the loss as Kelowna falls to 21-23 overall this season.

The Falcons have already clinched their playoff berth and could possibly be meeting Victoria in the first round of the playoffs.

Bryan Donohue, the Falcons head coach, was extremely happy with the Price start. He said, “He was money. He got out of some jams and he pitched well. He only gave up two runs. His pitch count got up there and he extended himself further than he had all summer. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t keep that game closer. I thought Price threw really well.”

The attention now shifts to the rubber match tomorrow, which will take place at 1:05 pm. It will be the first afternoon game played by Kelowna this summer. Donohue commented and said, “It’s a quick turnaround. We need to be ready to go tomorrow. Victoria is a tough place to play and the team is still hot. We need to find a way to steal the series from them. I think if we win it could be a really big momentum boost for our team. We have to find a way to win which would make the ride home that much better.”

Kelowna plays tomorrow at 1:05 pm. The Falcons will return home immediately after and take on the Bells for a three game series starting on Saturday.
