Bells Beat Falcons

Friday night the Falcons opened their six game road trip with a 6-4 loss in a wet and soggy Bellingham.

In the top of the first the Falcons took the lead on an RBI single from Jerod Smith.  The lead however was short lived as the Bells tied it in the bottom half of the inning off starter Josh Nuernberg.

After newcomer Tyler Brown scored in the top of the third, the Falcons took a two run lead in the fifth; 3-1.  But in the bottom of the fifth, the Bells tied it again, scoring twice on Nuernberg.

The see-saw game continued in the sixth, when the Bells took their first lead of the ballgame off reliever Riley Barr.

The Falcons tied it in the top of the seventh when Brown knocked in Erik Colombini, who doubled off the centerfield wall.  But again in the bottom of the inning the Bells stormed back with two more runs off Barr, taking the lead for good.  It’s the Bells seventh come from behind win this season.

Brown finished with two hits and an RBI in his Falcons debut just arriving from Southern Nevada.  Barr suffered the loss.

The Falcons (6-13) losing streak extends to four as they look to turn things around on Saturday in game two in Bellingham (10-5).  Sam Murphy will get his first start of the season.
