Clark; Super In Win

Two streaks were snapped on Monday night in Bend as the Falcons recorded a 6-5 victory.

With the win the Falcons snapped their six game losing skid, collecting nine hits in the process, including two by Kevin Biro, Tyler Brown and Andrew Godbold in his debut.

The Falcons jumped out early with a two run single by Kevin Biro in the top of the first inning.  In their next at bat they tacked on two more runs as Godbold connected on a two run single of his own to give the visitors a 4-0 lead.

The Elks responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs, then got a single run in the third off starter Kevin Flemer to cut the lead to a single run.

In the fourth Brandon Grimsley ground out to score Tyler Brown.  Then in the seventh Trey Kamachi drove a run in on a fielder’s choice.

Ricky Clark was “super” out of the pen.  He threw 4.2 hit less innings, striking out six in his first win of the season.

Scotland Church recorded the save throwing the final 2.1 innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits, striking out four and stranding the tying run at third base in the bottom of the ninth.

The Falcons (7-15) are hoping the Canada Day celebrations will extend into Bend (12-11) Oregon on Tuesday night in game two of the series. Matthew Moriarty (0-1) will get the start against 1-1 righthander Jake Thompson (Oregon State) at 6:35pm.
