Falcons Host Sox

As the weekend draws near, so does the rekindling of the Falcons best rival as the Wenatchee Applesox make a visit to Elks Stadium.
The Falcons have returned home after a six game road swing through Bellingham and Bend. For the most part the pitching staff has settled in, lowering their team ERA to 5.82, which was above six prior to the trip. The staff has collected 170 strikeouts, fourth most across the West Coast League.
The offense saw their struggles on the road trip against two very good pitching staffs. The club is hitting at a .230 average with 81 runs scored and 174 hits. Brandon Grimsley is the hottest Falcons hitter with a .340 average, while Kevin Biro and Scotland Church have the team lead with nine RBIs. Church has collected 25 hits, while Nick Minteer has 20.
The Wenatchee Applesox (13-11) have been the thorn in the side of the Falcons since day one. The Sox are on a rare three game losing streak, after getting swept at home against Bellingham and are a game and a half back of Yakima for first in the East Division.
Once again the Sox have a well balanced team, with the third best batting average and fourth best team ERA. Their offense is hitting .275 with 121 runs scored and a league best 225 hits, led by the WCL leader Caleb Wood, hitting .406 with 37 hits in 22 games.
The Sox pitching staff has struck out 193 batters, second most and has collected a 3.89 ERA. Ian Buckles has tallied three wins and has league low 1.04 ERA and is a probable starter this weekend.
The Sox are 7-6 on the road, while the Falcons are 2-7 at home.
