Kelowna Falcons

Falcons Visit Sox

For the second time this season the Falcons will battle the Wenatchee Applesox beginning tonight in Washington.

The Falcons hosted the Sox at the beginning of the month, winning one game in the series 13-4.

On the current road trip, the Falcons have won four of six games, winning the series in both Klamath Falls and Medford, outscoring the opposition 44-36.

The hottest Falcon on the trip thus far is Ryan Degner.  With just two hits prior to the trip, Degner has seen his bat come alive, collecting nine hits in the last six games.  Jerod Smith and Brandon Grimsley each have seven hits, while Scotland Church has tallied six.

The Falcons will use the same three starters that faced the Sox in Kelowna.  Jeremy Newton throws tonight.  He was solid in game three at Elks, lasting five innings, allowing five runs on six hits suffering a 5-3 loss.

Game two on Wednesday will feature Sam Murphy on the bump.  He started the Falcons 13-4 win, lasting 4.1 innings, allowing a run on six hits, finishing with a no decision.

In the series finale on Thursday, Josh Nuernberg will head to the hill.  The righty baffled the Sox hitters in the last series, throwing 6.1 innings allowing three runs, scattering seven hits and struck out six in a no decision.  The Sox scored six runs after he left and beat the Falcons 9-1.

Friday night the Falcons finally return home to host the Yakima Pippins at Elks Stadium.  It’s the beginning of a six game home stand against the Pippins and the Kitsap Bluejackets.
