Kelowna Falcons

Falcons Host Jackets

Tuesday night the Falcons open a three game series with the Kitsap Bluejackets (18-23) at Elks Stadium.

The Jackets are the hottest team in the league on a three game winning streak, while the Falcons are coming off a series loss to Yakima.

Despite the series loss, in the last two games the Falcons have been pounding the baseball.  The offense has tallied 18 runs and 23 hits and is now hitting .242 as a team and has scored 206 runs. As a matter of fact this offense has now scored 42 runs in the last six games.

Brandon Grimsley continues to lead the club with a .302 average and his tied for the team lead with 20 RBIs.  Scotland Church leads the club with 44 hits and needs 13 more to tie the team’s single season record held by Kyle Pearson (57-2012).

The Bluejackets on the other hand are hitting .268 through 41 games and have 17 homeruns.  Freshman Daniel Woodrow leads the Jackets with a .337 average and 33 hits.

They are coming off a series sweep of Medford, outscoring the Rogues 22-9.

The Bluejackets are 7-14 on the road this season, at one point losing eight in a row after sweeps in Victoria and Yakima.

Much like the Falcons the Bluejackets have had their troubles on the mound this summer.  Their staff has a combined ERA of 5.54, the Falcons at 5.89.  The Jackets have given up 220 earned runs (fourth most) and 390 hits (fifth most).  They are not a staff that records a lot of strike-outs, fanning 286, third fewest across the West Coast League.

This series has all the makings of a high scoring affair with plenty of runs and hits.
