Sox Beat Falcons

The Wenatchee Applesox scored the winning run in the second inning on Friday night, on route to a 9-1 victory at Elks Stadium.

Falcons starter Josh Nuernberg (pictured) last six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and struck out six falling for the second time this summer.  He pitched well enough to win, but the offense struggled.

Two Applesox pitchers combined to three hit the Falcons, as Andrew Godbold in his home debut collected two of the three hits and scored the lone run.

The Falcons bullpen struggled after Nuernberg departed giving up six runs in the final three innings.  Brandon Lambright threw just one inning, gave up four runs on four hits and struck out one in his Falcons debut.  Joel Lamont threw the final two innings giving up two runs and three hits, striking out one.

Game two of the three game series is set for Saturday night at 6:35pm.  It’s Dos Equis Mexican night, fans can enjoy some of their favourite Mexican foods, gates open at 5:30pm.
