Kelowna Falcons

Sox Scoop Win

What a difference a day and a pitcher makes.  After scoring 17 times on Tuesday, the Falcons fell 2-1 in Wenatchee on Wednesday.

The Falcons scored 17 times and collected 20 hits on Tuesday, their biggest outburst of the season…fast forward 24 hours and the offense scored once and tallied just three hits.

After the Applesox scored in the first inning off starter Sam Murphy , the game became a pitcher duel.   Murphy threw six complete allowing the run on two hits and struck out eight.  Sox starter Tyler Frost was also sharp, throwing seven complete innings, allowing a run on three hits.

Scotland Church relieved Murphy in the seventh, promptly giving up a run in the bottom of the inning, which turned out to be the game winner.

The lone Falcons run was scored in the fifth as Trey Kamachi singled home Church who had reached on base on a dropped third strike.  Nick Minteer and Erik Columbini collected the other team hits.

The Falcons (13-25) will battle the Applesox (20-18) in the series rubber match on Thursday.  Josh Nuernberg will head to the hill for the Falcons.
