Sox Steal Win

The Falcons jumped out to a lead on Sunday, but couldn’t hold on as the Wenatchee Applesox won the series with a 5-3 victory.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Falcons rallied with two out to score two runs.  Andrew Godbold singled in Tyler Brown, then scored on Brandon Grimsley’s (pictured) ninth RBI of the season.

The Sox came back in the third scoring four times on four hits off Falcons’ starter Jeremy Newton.  A Grimsley throwing error led to three of the four runs.  The Sox then added another in the fourth.

In the bottom of the fifth Godbold smacked his first homerun of the season to left centerfield.

Newton lasted five innings, allowing five runs on six hits and struck out one. Brett Solano came out of the pen, threw four innings, giving up just three hits.

The Falcons will now enjoy three days off before opening a three game series at home against the Bellingham Bells on Thursday, then will embark on a nine game road trip through Klamath Falls, Medford and Wenatchee.
