Wild Finish At Elks

In wild game at Elks Stadium on Saturday night the Falcons come from behind and walk off with an 11-10 victory over the Yakima Valley Pippins.

For the second straight night the Pippins jumped out to a lead in the top of the first inning.  They scored four runs off Scotland Church making his first start of the summer.

Then in the second inning the Falcons got on the board as Colton Waltner knocked in Tommy Lane with a two-out double.

Brandon Grimsley cut the Pippins lead in half with an RBI sacrifice fly to score Jerod Smith.

After the Pippins extended their lead with three runs in the top of the fourth, the Falcons tied it in the bottom of the inning scoring five times.  Josh Croft hit a two-run double, and Will Fox recorded a bases loaded walk to score Nick Minteer.

The Pippins scored in the top of the fifth, then the Falcons took their first lead of the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth as Croft blasted his third homerun of the season, a two run shot.

Fox then scored after he tripled on a Pippins error to give the Falcons 10-8 lead.

In the top of the ninth the visitors tied the game off Brett Solano.  Cue the fireworks.

With the runners at first and second in the bottom of the ninth, Fox singled to the left centerfield gap to score Minteer with the game winning run and the Falcons first walk off this season.

Minteer finished the game with three hits, while Croft (pictured) collected two hits and three RBIs.  Fox tallied two hits and two RBIs including the game winner.  Lane and Waltner also had a pair of his.

Saturday night featured 21 runs, and 22 hits as both teams played in their 41st game of the year.

The Falcons (14-27) and Pippins (23-18) will play in the series rubber match on Sunday at 6:05pm.
