Kelowna Falcons

Three Utes Sign

Three members of the University of Utah Utes will join the Kelowna Falcons for the Summer of 2015, as Head Coach Billy Clontz continues to fill out his roster.

A pair of freshmen position players will make their way north to Kelowna as infielder Wade Gulden (Redding, CA) and outfielder Andre Jackson (Tucson, AZ) will suit up for the Falcons.

So far for the Utes, Gulden has made 18 starts, hitting .208 with a homerun and 9 RBI’s.

Jackson (pictured), who was drafted in the 32nd round in 2014 by Texas, has 4 RBI’s and a .231 OBP while making only 2 errors in the field in his 21 starts in Pac-12 play. He has also pitched in the past.

The Falcons will also welcome pitcher Dustin Hughes (San Diego, CA), a sinkerball pitcher who has only seen 3.2 innings on the Utes mound this season.

For these players, development is the focus for Clontz and his staff, as the West Coast League provides an opportunity for players to hone their skills over the summer.

Keep following the www.KelownaFalcons.com and social media for roster updates as we move towards the West Coast League opener on June 5th.

The Falcons will open up with a road series in Victoria on June 5th, before coming home on June 9th to host the Yakima Valley Pippins in the 2015 Home Opener presented by TELUS/Comcast.
