Falcons Drop Bells

The Kelowna Falcons got out-hit, but it didn’t matter on Monday night as they took advantage of a wild Bellingham Bells pitching staff and multiple errors in a 13-9 victory.

The Falcons gave up 4 first inning runs as the Bells chased starter Tyler Gillies before he could record an out. Jayse Bannister gave up 1 run in the frame in relief, but didn’t leave the ball game until he finished off the 7th inning, scattering 8 total hits.

The offense would get on the board in the 4th inning, scoring twice on an Andre Jackson single.

The flood gates would open in the 5th inning for Kelowna. Wade Gulden tied the ballgame up with a 2-RBI single, his first RBI’s of the year.

The Falcons then used a perfectly placed bunt from Grant Meylan to score a pair on a hustle play with the bases loaded. During that play, with Brandon Oliver trying to score from second on the bunt, a wild throw allowed JJ Muno to score as well, giving the Falcons a 7-4 lead.

Kelowna added three runs each in the 6th and 7th innings, opening the lead to 13-4. Gulden had 3 more RBI’s to finish with 5 in the ballgame. Justin Flores and Oliver each added 2 hits to the offensive attack.

The Falcons drew 10 walks in the ballgame and were hit by 5 pitches. They were also aided by 6 Bells errors.

Kelowna will take on Bellingham the next two nights at Elks Stadium, including Wednesday’s FIREFIGHTER BURN FUND NIGHT. All proceeds from ticket sales that night will go to the Burn Fund.
