Falcons Knock Sox

The Kelowna Falcons took game 1 of 6 straight against the Wenatchee AppleSox by a 7-1 margin Monday night in Washington. The Falcons got on the board in the first inning with 3 runs, including a Max Carter RBI single, and Joey Crunkilton RBI double. Hunter Villanueva would score on an AppleSox balk as well. Kelowna made it 5-0 in the 4th when Lane Lacrone knocked in Matt Hearn from 2nd base, and Villanueva hammered a 3-1 fastball out of the yard for his 3rd homer. Kendall Motes was solid on the mound for Kelowna, giving up 1 hit over 5 innings, while striking out a quintet of Sox. Lacrone cashed in Hearn once again in the 6th inning to go up 6-0, before the AppleSox got an RBI double from Keston Hiura that scored a run from first on a close play at the plate. In the 7th, it would be Hearn’s turn for the RBI when he scored Brandon Grimsley. Hearn was making his first start since June 14th and delivered with a 4-4 ballgame, raising his average to .273. Blake Peters and Matt Kirk worked the final three innings to finish off Motes’ 2nd win of the season. The Falcons take on the AppleSox again Tuesday at Paul Thomas Sr Field, with a 7:05 first pitch.
